Worried, I discussed early birth [premature labor] [contractions]

I felt something warm trickling down my morning leg . it didnt smell the urine . there was not a smell at all . Im afraid that my water broke and Im only 6 months . I should just wait and see if I get pangs before going to the hospital?
If my water to break . what are the survival chances for my baby? Im so worried.

Another question . severe stress can do anything while you are pregnant . Im debating quit my job because it is that makes me a lot of stress.

Reply:Hi Tangerine,

Again, call your doctor without delay or go to the ER. What happened to your sister and to several of us here is not diagnostic for you. You dare not risk your baby just so you don't disturb your doctor. This is why you pay your doctor – so you and your baby are cared for. Your doctor cannot take good care of you and your baby if you don't tell him/her what is happening. I lost a baby at 20 weeks because I didn't want to disturb my doctor at 2am.

Please don't just assume, hope, or wish that all is okay. Get checked!!! Better safe than sorry is really, really true.

Reply:Please get to the hospital. My baby was born at 20 wks after my water broke. All I felt was little trickles when I moved. No big gushes, just a little here and a little there, but eventually there was no fluid left for the baby. At first I thought it was urine leakage, but it wasn't. It's always better to be on the safe side, so get checked ASAP.

Reply:I have the same concern about work stress, and I'm going to talk to my doc about it on Sat. I'm stressed with alot of things and then there is the stress about stressing on what it's doing to the baby.

Reply:Thanks for the replies. I called my sister who had went into with her first child.. and I realized that I had overreacted. It trickled a bit and never happened again. Kind of embarrasing but I guess it was just urine.
But what I'm concerned about now is stress. How bad is it for the baby? When I got all worked up this morning about having the baby it was restless… I've never seen my belly move so much.

Reply:Hi -

Amen to what Claudia wrote – get to the hospital NOW. I had the same thing happen at 26 weeks and I was able to have the steriod shots (it's called BetaMethazone and it matures the baby's lungs in case birth happens soon). Thanks to that medicine, our son was never on the ventilator even tho he was born at about 27 weeks and weighed just 2lb 3 1.2oz.

DO NOT just sit and wonder. Hope you're already at the hospital!

Wishing you well – Barbara

Reply:I forgot to mention, i never felt any . only when i got to the hospital and they put me on a monitor did i realise that i was contracting.

Reply:the same thing happened to me with my first child. Go to the hospital asap. If your waters have broken they will give you a steroid shot and try and stop your labour for at least a few days, 12-24 hours after the first shot they will give you another one. This matures the babies lungs.
If you do happen to go into labour, things may not be as bad as they seem. Of cousre the baby will have to go in the NICU until near the EXPECTED dd. But it is amasing what they can do now. My son was born at 28weeks and has just had his first birthday, he is a little behind on certain learning steps but everything is fine. By the time he is two you would have never of known that this boy was born so early. He is 100% "NORMAL"
GOOD LUCK, and let us know the out come.

Reply:Please go to the hospital and get check asap! If it was your water you want to try and stop contactions.

Reply:When my water broke with my first child (I was 39 wks) I didn't feel the . When I got to the hospital they showed up on the monitor, but it took me a while to actually feel any. I would call the dr. if you suspect your water broke. When mine did, it wasn't a huge gush but I knew that it was my water and not urine, so trust your instincts. Good luck and let us know what happens.
