Will labor start soon?! [brethine] [contractions]
I am 36 weeks pregnant. A few days before the 35, I had very painful contractions for about 6 hours. Coincidentally a doctor visit, at 9:30 where they confirmed I was 1cm opening. I went to the hospital next door where she gave me the shots to stop labor. Also received the banned anabolic steroid shots to help her lungs develop faster. I was sent home with Brethine (drugs) that contractions weaken. They wanted him off for 2 weeks, if possible, until she was full term. Well, just five days later I had the same pains. Not come at regular intervals all the time, but they were painful cramps . accompanied by vomiting / flushing / diarrhea. I went to see her again where they confirmed I was 1.5 cm opening. They took me off the meds. The next morning I lost my mucus plug, but I have not had since contractions. Yesterdays appt. I am now confirmed 2cm dilation. Are things about to start happening soon? Or labor would have two weeks off or more?
What yall are theories about the mucus plug, etc?

Reply:Yeah, I guess so. It just seemed to me like having more than 2 or 3 symptoms of premature delivery would mean something…but I realize your body doesn't have to follow any kind of time table.
But I guess it's safe to say I probably won't last until my due date which is July 19th. I've never heard of someone losing their mucus plug a whole month before delivery.

Reply:I'm like guy…I started losing my mucus plug two days before I delivered, and I was having contractions the entire time. I, like you had a doctor's appointment the same day, and she told me that I had another week to go…I was only 2 cms dialated. My cousin on the other hand lost her mucus plug about a week or two before she delivered.
I agree that it's different for everyone.

Reply:Well, I lost part of my plug 2 weeks before I had my baby. My cousin has been losing hers for a few weeks now. I don't think losing it indicates that labor is starting anytime soon. It could be a couple more weeks. I also was dialated to 2 for almost a month. My cousin is in labor as we speak and she has been dialted to 3 for almost a month. I guess you just never know….
