Which tea is safe to drink during pregnancy? [decaffeinated] [pregnancy]
Just curious whether tea (decaffeinated of course) that are safe and even beneficial to drink during pregnancy? I am 8 1 / 2 weeks pregnant.
Reply:I've quit drinking tea all together. My family and boyfriend are huge tea drinkers and I tried looking up online which ones were safe (including green and chamomile) and couldn't find a nice word about any tea. The most positive thing I could find was that 'some teas are probably okay, in moderation.' Not good enough for me!
Reply:Wow I didnt know that about green tea and Ive been drinking it alot latley too. guess Ill have to askthe doctor about that and stop drinking it til then. Thanks for the info.
Reply:You need to discuss that with your dr., there is something in certain teas that cause preterm labor. I'm not sure what that name of the ingredient is tho. And I'm not certain that its in every type of tea either. I know my best friend drank the lipton raspberry icetea with her first pregnancy and she went into labor around 6 months and the dr confirmed it was from the tea. So be careful and discuss it with your dr to be on the safe side.
Reply:I was big into Green Tea before my pregnancy. I understand that Green Tea effects cell growth which in turn may cause miscarriage. I had 2 first trimester miscarriages and drank Green Tea for both. This being my 3rd pregnancy I've steered clear of the Green Tea and have drank Chamomile on occasion. I find chamomile calming. I assume that a regular decaf tea is fine to drink also. As for any other herbal teas I'd check w/ your doc.
