When is the first ultrasound? [healthy pregnancy] [ultrasound]
When everyone has had their first U.S.? Im going for my first ob / gyn visit next Friday and will be 7 weeks at that point. I want the U.S. because I really want some “proof” that this is really happening to me. Im so afraid my hope that this will work. Sometimes I feel maybe I do not think I deserve a happy and healthy pregnancy. : (
Reply:Fair warning not all doctors will do u/s.
I know with my first that dr(event hough he was the best in the state) didnt do u/s unless there was a medical need for them. He also didnt beleive in just making up excusses to have them done.
With our second I got several because I was ruled high risk.
I know several other doctors that do u/s without valid reasons. It varies…just trying to tell you dont get your hopes too high on getting an u/s
Reply:My doctor ordered an ultra sound when I was 16 wks.
I mentioned to him that I wanted to find out the sex of my baby, and of course, they cant order an U/S just for that, so he ordered one for an atomical scan, where they measure the baby's bones, brain, thigns like that… to make sure she was growing right.
Insurance wont pay for it, unless its doctor ordered for a specific reason, which is why he did it the way he did. But Every doc. is different.
They are wonderful, so I hope that you are able to have one, so you can see your growing little one. ![]()
Reply:Hello,
My Dr's office does a routine ultra sound on your 1st OB around 8-10 weeks and one at 20. They also do them if you are experiencing any spotting or have other problems. I will be having an u/s in 3 weeks and am sooo excited. It is so nice to get a glipse of the little one and see how it is progressing.

Like Connie said all docs are different about the US.
But I think they only do it early on if you are having trouble. If your feeling freaked, (like someone else I know) just ask for one, you may have to pay for it though out of pocket.
I don't know why you would say that you don't deserve the happiness of baby. You sure do seem sweet to me. Your pretty thoughtful to reply to me earlier. Just try to think good thoughts and talk with your DH or DB. If thats not helpful then I'm always around. I don't post all the time, but I'm always reading.
Take Care, I'm sure your little baby is ok.

Reply:Thank you Connie. I know I am being a total worrywart and I need to stop. I just have to come to terms with the fact that this is a waiting game and also that however it turns out this was meant to be. The thing is that I never ever thought I would have children, because it had been so long since I had had a meaningful relationship (10 years). Then I met my bf (on Valentines Day
Reply:Hello! Tilly usually they donot give you an early ultrasound unless they have concerns or need to verify your dates, not all doctors are the same some will give you one as early as 6 weeks but it is hard for them to tell alot that early on so they usually like to wait until your 12th week or some even not until you are 20 weeks to do a ultrasound. Tilly you deserve to be happy and to have a healthy pregnancy just like everyonelse does so please donot feel any different than anyone on this earth you are special too. I wish you the best of luck and I hope your appointment goes well. Tilly have a happy and healthy nine months
