When in the doctor!? [contractions] [alot]
I am 29 weeks and with a lot of contractions. Almost every night and they are quite intense. I usually only notice them at night, but Ive seen them all . day today, with just not as good. I hate to go, because I know Im there for 4 hours and it can be for nothing! I know not what to do at this point. My check-up is not for a week and half and if these contractions are something to do, I will not let you go so long. Also I still get that really weird pinching pain right on my cervix and that is worse today and . what would you do

Reply:I agree with the rest…I'd go in for sure and get it checked out. If it ends up being nothing at least you will know and have peace of mind!

Reply:Drink a ton of water. Tons of it. As much as you can take. They say that some types of pre-term labor have to do with dehydration. I would then go to your doc's office and get checked out. If they do admit you, I promise the first thing they'll do is pump you full of fluids in an effort to re-hydrate you. Of course that is one scenario, for sure go in and make certain its not something else! Good luck.

Reply:I usually call my obyn office and tell them what I am experiencing and then they call me back, and usually tell me to come in and get checked. I have learned that it is better to go and have it checked out than to wait and do nothing. This is your baby's health and there is no shame or time wasted in making sure he or she is okay. Once at 29wks. my obgyn's office was closed on the weekend and I had to go to the hospital's labor and delivery to get checked out because I thought something was wrong. My so called friends said I was just wasting everyones time and that I was fine. It turns out that everything was okay and I told the hospital nurse how embarrassed I was. This was her response " When in doubt, get checked out!" A baby's life is always worth it!:) I hope and pray that all is well.

Reply:My doc's advice was always to lie down on your left side for half and hour and drink a glass of water to make sure you are well rested with maximum circulation and you are hydrated. If you are still contracting, go get it checked out.
I am always on the "better safe than sorry" side of things – it may be a huge waste of time, but if it was me, I would grab a book and head for the ER or doctors' office.
Good luck and keep us posted! guy
