To go into labor on your own versus inductance [centimeters] [induction]
Okay, I think this is more of a poll kind of thing, but I wanted to know how many of you went into labor on your own, versus be induced.
Im almost 38 weeks with my second daughter. I was induced at 42 weeks with my first, and likely to be caused in 39 weeks with this. Im dilated to 2 centimeters, but not quite yet depleted, and my doc thinks he for a while.
I am curious what it is to go into labor on your own, because I never have, and whether more people go on their own work or to be generated. I would like the whole experience woke DH and told him its time, I just do not feel like Im going to get to experience that, as this is my last baby. I need to vicariously live through you all for this. : D
My DH is so funny. He has tried everything to get me to go into labor. He tried to get me on the mower, we play dodge ball in the garden with our 8 years old (gently, with a soft ball;)), and today before he left for work he told me to make sure I walk around the house much. We are both so excited that we can not wait, so I know if my doctor says she will lead at 39 weeks, we will not be able to wait longer.
Anyway, I just wanted to know what everyones experiences with either go on their own, or go for an induction. Anyone care and good luck with everything!

Reply:I am hoping that everything will go naturally for me too, right now I am scheduled to induce on my due date of April 30 and have been doing everything possible to jump start things prior. Now I have to hold off a bit again this weekend because my doc is out of town til late Sunday. *sighs*
Reply:Hi  *Congratulations on your upcoming new addition!*I have had two babies and I was induced with both so I don't know what it is like to go on my own.I think a good thing about being induced in my experience has been fast labors.I had my first child in 5 hours and my second in 4 hours and I think that is a good thing.I too am curious what it would be like to have labor to start on its own but I will probably never know cause DH says we are done having babies. We will see I guess…….time will tell.
Reply:Hi,
I can tell you that I have 2 children and I was induced with the first and had natural labour with the second. If I have my choice this time around I am definately going with natural labour. When you are induced the contractions are much harder and your body just is not ready. Besides this you are also restricted in your activities when being induced wheras when you are in natural labour you can move around, go to the bathroom etc. without trying to worry about where each cord is and what should I do with it?
Hope everything goes well for you.

Reply:Well, I have had 2 kids, and have been able to go into labor on my own on both. It was about 6 pm on my first baby, and we didn't go into the hospital till midnight that night, it took me a long time to figure out that I was actually having contractions. And my 2nd one, it was early in the morning, and did the whole wake up my husband in the night and went in to the hospital like 6am. It was really a neat experience, between us both times. I am excited to do that again. I went into labor within a week of my due date. I am very glad I have not had to been induced, I have heard that it is harder labor. Good luck, I know that there are "tricks" to start labor, but the only one that worked for me was the BD. It brought me into labor both times. I was very excited.
