I am 39 weeks and go into the hospital on Sunday for the ripe cervix gel and pitocin will be given on Monday. I went to the doctor today for my weekly visit and she made the comment that the baby was posterior. I asked what that meant, but she was distracted answering a question I asked and I did not even think about until I left. What does this mean? Does the baby have to turn on or is that the position they should be?

I went to the hospital as planned for the prostaglandin (sp?) Gel on my cervix is ripe and the pitocin at 6 am on Monday to prepare. They were supposed to gel twice, but one hour after the first gel I was having a strong, intense contractions that are just 5 minutes all of a sudden. 4 hours and 45 minutes later we had our baby girl, Katelyn Rose (my second daughter, DH first baby). She weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. My labor was very intense, but thankfully short.

Anyone here or someone you know done vaginal suppository of the cervix is ripe for labor to begin before pitocin? I have plans to go in Monday night to get this done because my cervix is thinning or off, then in the morning, I am starting pitocin. But my question is, has anyone done this and has anyone gone into labor alone in the suppository? I have a few women tell me that she went into labor that alone. Well after 18 hours work, we did it!
I was induced on Tuesday. They started the pitocin at thirteen and the contractions kicked in immediately. I have asked for 9 hours the epidural because it 2-3 minutes apart, 60 seconds long and I was only at 2 cm!
