If induced . any advice? [heart condition] [induction]
Who has induced? I am induced Janurary third, but am hoping my doctor will guide me Friday because I have so much pain. Im 5 days overdue as of today. What can I expect? I know they do not allow in the labor market too long because I have a heart defect, so I know Im still not 30 hours induction, I hope! Any advice would be appreciated.

Reply:I was induced back in August and I'm afraid I agree with the other posters, induction can lead to a really painful labour. I started contracting about 5 seconds after they put the gel in and they were 2 minutes apart from the start, but I didn't give birth for another 22 hours! ouch! My advice: Relax, be happy that your baby is nearly here and don't be hesitant about taking pain meds if you need them. Good luck.
Natural Labor Induction Induce Labor Naturally
Reply:I was induced this past June with my second baby. It wasn't bad at all. I had an epidural, so the pain was hardly there until the very end. I went in at 7am, got the iv hooked up, and my dr broke my water around 8am, and by 9:30 I was getting my epidural, and after that, I basically just layed there in bed and hung out. I was in labor from 8am-5:30pm, 9 and a half hours total. With my first baby 2 and a half years ago, I was in labor (went into labor on my own that time) for 18 hours. So just because you are induced, it doesn't always neccesarily mean it will go longer that if you went into labor on your own. My labor was easier this time around, but it was also my second. However, pitocin isn't fun at all. I had to have it with my first because I wasn't progressing like they wanted me to. And I didn't have an epidural that time either, and yikes, the contractions were fast and furious. So if you don't plan on any pain meds, be prepared for some pain. But relax as much as you can, hopefully if you go in prepared, you will be able to handle it better. Good luck and congratulations!

Reply:be prepared for pain…haha i hate to say it but i was induced at 34 weeks. they used pitocin and the contractions came fast and got strong…i was in labor for about 15.5 hours…they started @ 9am and after about 8 hours, i needed pain meds…the pain was so intolerable. my contractionswere 2 minutes apart but each lasted 1 minute so essentially i had only one minute to rest inbetween. the pain was so intense…not trying to scare you, just sharing my experience
